So, you've created your own iPhone App and you it has been accepted at the iTunes shop and there it sits. So now what do you do? There are thousands and thousands of apps to choose from so how are you going to get yours noticed? You are going to have to take some time and effort to get it promoted and below you will find a few tips on how to do this.
One of the first things you should probably do is to take your app and submit it for review by sending it into as many different sites that you possibly can. First get all of your material ready ahead of time along with your icon and load all of the information into a zip file that can be easily uploaded to any website or can be easily sent in an email. You should make sure that you add a few screen shots as well. You can then write a standard email asking for a review from the different sites and explain to the reviewer why you believe your app is so good.
A few of the sites you can send your review request to are:
- App Craver
- Apple iPhone Apps
- App Rater
- App Safari
- App Vee
- Fresh Apps
- Geek Dot Com
- iPhone Alley
- iPhone App Reviews
- iPhone Flow
- iPhone Kicks
- Life Hacker
You should also create yourself a press release and send it to some journalists. You can send out one on the Internet but it works a lot better if you pick out a few known journalists and target them. You should send it directly to them and then follow up after you have sent it. It's important to choose a few really good journalists and them go after them in a very polite manner.
You also might want to consider adding your app to a PPC campaign. Although it may cost a little bit this can sometimes be a great way of getting traffic to your app. You will need to use three or four good keyword sets in order to generate some good traffic but with research you shouldn't have too much trouble doing this. You should however should use the PPC program very cautiously. If you aren't careful you can actually lose money fast if you aren't careful. But if you pay attention to what's going on you could make a pretty good profit too.
Good old word of mouth is still a wonderful way to promote anything, and it should be no different for your app. Let all of your friends, family members and even business or work affiliates know about your app and ask them to spread the word for you. Once your app starts getting downloaded and if it's liked it won't take much time before other people will talk about it and spreading the word to their friends.
